A sad commentary indeed for one of our earliest Patriots. I hope the clerk that absconded with the funds had come to a tragic end of his life as well. As the saying goes, karma can be a b____h.

General John Lamb was an American Hero and it was his perseverance following multiple injuries that helped to win his freedom and independence from the British. His unfortunate illness allowed what seems very unfair declaration of responsibility for a debt that he shouldn't have been deemed responsible. This unfairness caused him to be indebted to the new country that he had sacrificed so much to serve.

If it hasn't already been done, I would hope that an official action by Congress would officially obsolve him from responsibility for the embezzlement of funds that was another person's wrong doing.

Thank you Tara.

Even the actions were not his, he was responsible and Lamb honored that responsibility, a trait not so many accept today.

Talk about perseverance! Many would have been dissuaded from continuing serving after losing an eye, but not John Lamb. Then a second serious injury and to cap it off the treachery of his friend Benedict Arnold. It’s very sad to think of his disappointing ending after serving his country so well.

🇺🇸 A persistent, courageous and honorable man I had not heard of before. Not a proper ending, but sadly, no good deed...even for our heroes. 😕

Another unheard of, by me, story of a Revolutionary War hero whose life ended in poverty and distress!

Thank you Tara!

Such a sad ending for a brave man who nearly gave his life for our newly formed country.

John Lamb, labeled by as a "rabble rouser" yet he sure was a persistent one. To have been wounded so many times, and yet return to the war effort to gain our independence in battle each time clearly demonstrated his dedication to gaining American independence and gain the rank of Brigadere General while did so. His is a name that should be more commonly known in our history books.

So many gave up so much in service to their country and Gen. Lamb is a premier example of these. It is sad that he died in such poverty and illness. May he rest in peace.
