John Hancock was a large nuisance to the British, it seems. A rablerouser who was also a leader and, he apparently thumbed his nose at the British and the Crown by being involved in a number of activities that were subversive to the Crown. His huge signature on the Declaration of Independence had to have greatly irritated the British.

God bless John Hancock and all of the founding fathers who put their lives at risk by standing up to the unreasonable control of the British Crown.

Thank you Tara for your perseverance in bringing our history to your readers and, by finding creative methods to avoid being unreasonably censored. You would think that we are back to where we were during the time of John Hancock.

🇺🇲 It is strange that all I've known of John Hancock is his flair for signing his name. A disservice to a true patriot.

Thanks for enlightening me, TR! 🇺🇸

It's always interesting to see who the early leaders of states are. I like the Hancock signature legend though.

A true Patriot indeed. It’s amazing that to this day you can still hear people say “Put your John Hancock right here.” when asking for your signature.

Loved this unknown story. John was as big in life as his signature. A total patriot whose names and deeds stood “the test of time”. Never forgotten. Thanks Tara
