The Coast Guard . . . “Always Ready”. John Cullen sure was, and thankfully that story had a great ending.

Yes, John "Jack" Cullen prevented a possibly serious act of espionage or destruction by his sharp instincts. And, like so many heroes, he didn't believe that he had done anything special, just did his job. You are correct Tara, this was another example of the Greatest Generation doing what needed to be done.

We forget just how many attacks on our homeland were averted by the brave and tireless actions of the Greatest Generation. Thank you Tara.

Great story of men who protected our shores. There were many who were saved when the U-boat torpedoed their supply ships. Many were torpedoed close to our shores. Great story!!!

Coast Guardsman Cullen was braver than he thought himself to be. Who wouldn’t be nervous under those circumstances…facing the enemy face to face alone. He handled himself well. His actions made it possible for their intentions to be thwarted and the men arrested. It’s sometimes the “ insignificant” actions that make the biggest difference in the outcome.
