Another "American" hero awarded the MOH (finally) for taking decisive and life threatening action to save his remaining platoon members. Jesus Duran did his duty for love of his country. God bless him and all American fighting men and women. Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday.
Spec 4 Duran is an excellent example of those who became citizens because they wanted to be Americans. He gave his best and his all. His family should be proud of him. What a brave and honorable man. So sad how his life ended.
Jesus Duran saved lives during his service and proved that the "little guy" shouldn't be dismissed. It is a bit sad that the MOH wasn't awarded during his lifetime. He truly deserved that recognition.
You can't help but admire those that want to serve to attain their citizenship. They desire to achieve the American way and be part of the heritage of freedom and liberty.
Isn't it amazing that the intense battle gave him the stage to exhibit his courage, but a simple bar encounter took his life. We need to remember our fallen--thanks, Tara.
Yes, kind of crazy! The description I read was vague, and I kind of wonder what happened. Sounded like a bar patron (drunk?) felt threatened, took out a knife. Such a sad and needless tragedy.
Such Bravery exhibited by Jesus on this day in 1969. Glad his medal was upgraded to a MOH. He would be so proud of his children. A sad ending for his life.

He is a hero who loved his country. Did what was required and saved lives. Sad his life ended from random violence. RIP Sir. You served us all well.
Another GREAT story of Bravery under fire! Putting his life on the line to save the lives of his comrades!
He earned his Citizenship and then finally got the Medal he deserved long after his death!
What it is to be AMERICAN!

It's amazing how many young men ignored danger and rushed towards the enemy in order to save others! A very sad ending for a true hero!
