TDIH: Jefferson on Government
"Prevent it from wasting the labours of the people."
On this day in 1802, Jefferson writes a letter. "If we can but prevent the government from wasting the labours of the people," he wrote, "under the pretence of taking care of them, they must become happy."
What an interesting quote, given recent events?!

We have allowed our government to stray far from the original intent and the results show in so many unhappy people. Can it be restored? I am not sure it can. I continue to hope and pray.
We have, systematically, been moved so far away from what the Founders intended. I am not optimistic about the Republic surviving this idiocy.
