What a tremendous personal sacrifice he made. Sadly, he did not know he needed protective gear apparently or, if he did, he did not leave the dirty work to a subordinate. I would think that they would have been supplied with the appropriate equipment, but no… Many thanks to Jack Revelle for his service and sacrifice. Hopefully, he received a hero’s burial yet I doubt he would have wanted it.

Sad finish for one of the millions of unsung military heroes killed decades later by what they faced and did in their military service.

I knew nothing about this event that took place within my early years. It's amazing what goes on around us without our knowledge.

Reports said "There was never any Danger, as the bombs were Unarmed" no need to alarm the Sheeples, they might have stampeded to Get Away...... "Better to Let Them Die In Place?"

As We/Me/You head into 2024 perhaps We should learn from this and other Gov Lies.

Sadly there is no MOH for Jack. The secrecy belies the bravery of this American hero.

LT. Jack Revelle performed his heavy responsibility with professionalism and loyalty responsible for averting a catastrophe. If he had not been successful, all of us who had not heard of this incident surely would have had full knowledge of a disaster. Thank God we were spared the knowledge. Thank you LT. For your sacrifice. You are a hero.

A sad ending to a tragedy that could have been a catastrophic disaster. Perhaps Lt. Jack ReVelle is one of the un-sung heroes of the Cold War that has almost faded into the past. I know that B-52 bombers are still in the air flying almost 24/7/365 as a defense item for our Nation. When one lands for servicing and crew changes, another is already in the air taking its place.

God Bless America and our servicemen who protect us.

🇺🇸 Another unsung American hero!

“Jack was a true believer,” his wife concluded after his passing. “He believed in America. And he believed in his promises.” We could use more men like Lt. ReVelle. Thanks, TR! 🇺🇸

I’m just not sure that perhaps this story is not more frightening than the original story ! I’ve mentioned this to a number of people and not one person had heard about it.

Thank you for highlighting these bad ass warriors. Particularly these lesser known stories.

This is a job no one would envy and yet here was a man who did it knowing there could be a cost to himself. Indeed there was a great cost. Still he believed in America and believed in keeping his promises. Men like him are few and far between.

This reminds me of Andrew Jackson dying 40 years later from complications of being shot in the lung during a duel!
