I'm never disappointed by these Medal stories, but I'm always surprised. Running towards danger is the ultimate calling, especially when you're prepared to lose your life to save others. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Another humble hero! He asked great questions and then acted on them - isn't it something that thinking he was going to die calmed him down and he was able to accomplish much? Like so many MOH heroes, he saw a need and acted on it without thought to himself. Thank you for your service!
Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday. Jack Jacobs saved many men while nearly losing his own. His brave and methodical actions in the face of extreme danger were intentional and repeated returns to the fierce action, to battle the enemy and to grab another wounded man.
Typical of a hero, Captain Jacobs said that he was just doing what he had to do and, that was probably true. Had he not done everything that he did, he and many others would surely have perished. Captain Jacobs, you sir, are an American Hero. May God bless you and all who have served this great nation.
Oh how I love Medal of Honor posts! This one is no different. Same humility and selfless service. So thankful for them all. Jack Jacobs know how much we appreciate his willingness to serve and than go beyond risking his life to help others.
An honor to learn this MOH story. Jack Jacobs said it best...“I don’t consider myself a hero, and I doubt if you’ll find very many recipients tell you that they consider themselves heroes, because they were just doing what they had to do.”
What a great story! Thank you, Tara! JACOBS share a common trait of those awarded the MOH: humility. He also had an attitude which made him more effective - he thought he was as good as dead already and quit allowing self-preservation to influence his actions. He was rea remarkable soldier in service of his country. Many thanks to him and his ilk. And to you, dear author, for so succinctly sharing his wonderful story.
One thing every MOH awardee says.
“I don’t consider myself a hero. Gallant men doing extraordinary things because there was a need.
