Happy Independence Day to all. I thank God for the foresight of our founding fathers. Putting our Declaration in writing, united us. Everything that has been achieved in the United States of America since this day in 1776 is due to the great people who had the foresight and desire and fortitude to be free.
That closing statement of putting everything they had on the line is seldom mentioned but extremely important. Bless them and the spirit that moved them to support this bold action.

A lot of discussions and mini-debates, even among the Chosen-Five, a lot of mechanics behind the scenes, but all agree - Jefferson was the great wordsmith who put it to paper - one of the most magnificent documents of all history. Thank you, Tara Ross, for reminding us it was the result of much work and toil.
And so began a long and intense war for independence! It was a huge gamble that these colonies could beat the greatest armies of their time. The colonies themselves were divided with patriots against the loyalists. But by Divine Providence the patriots won and the great experiment began! Happy Independence Day!

Amazing how even the messiness of memory and human disagreements still gave birth to something so enduring. Shows that imperfect people can create extraordinary things.
