The Hindenburg is a familiar event. As in any horrific incident it’s good to look for the heroes/helpers. Some American sailors ran in to help others while many were running out. Lessons are learned from every tragedy. The problem is in forgetting what was learned.

I am old so, of course, I know of the Hindenburg; but I did not know many of the details shared here. Most great tragedies have at least a few great heroes. Here, we have a hero before he was a hero again! Thank you for reminding us of the great tragedy, Tara Ross.

Thank you Tara. Repetition is okay too. The important thing is that you post daily to inform your audience about relevant information about our history. The story of the Hindenburg is important. Heroes, disaster and a MOH.🇺🇲

As you noted, Tara, this was a huge moment in history, the ending for air travel via dirigible. Many movies and books have based around this and other tragedies of that time. Thanks for keeping the facts straight!

A smoking lounge under a hydrogen balloon sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

Tragedy is so sad and without it safety doesn't happen. What a loss and heroic efforts that night.

There's a time travel TV show called "Timeless" from several years ago. It's running again on Amazon Prime Video now. The first episode deals with the Hindenburg. If you're interested, check it out.

Agreed. The ad revenue couldn't keep up with the production costs though. I'll admit, I read your name as "Rittenhouse". 😆

Hydrogen burns with an almost invisible flame, the aluminized skin of the Hindenburg burns with a bright yellow flame similar to solid rocket fuel. The flames you see are the skin burning.
