Helen Grace McClelland is a woman that needs to be remembered. To have served twice in Europe during that first war, and then go back, and serve yet again is inspiring. And topping that with using her experiences to develop nursing training, using her experience to help create an even better nurse trying program is to be long remembered.

The character of America would not be what it is today without the contributions of the dedicated and patriotic women God gives to our country. From battling for the family to battling our country’s enemies. We will not be successful without them. Love this story Tara. Thank you Helen McClelland!

My mom studied under Miss McClelland at Pennsylvania School of Nursing. We grew up hearing about her! When the US got into WWII, she called her nurses up to volunteer. They were sent to New Caledonia in the South Pacific. My mom was one of the surgical nurses. She and my father met and were married there in 1943.
