What a story Tara. Mystery, Intrigue and the biography of a remarkable man.
George Wythe should surely be remembered for his good deeds as a founder, a teacher and a great man rather than a man who met a terrible death. George Wythe gave much to our c
ountry. His grand nephew should be remembered as the scoundrel he was. Thank you Tara.
George Wythe was a remarkable man. very accomplished and a patriot. No wonder Jefferson held him in high regard. His words of praise for his friend described a kind and intelligent man. The fact he freed slaves bequeathed to him shows how much he respected humanity. It’s sad that his own relative had evil intentions. As it says: the love of money is the root of all evil. It’s fortunate that Wythe was moved to change his will and disinherit Sweney. This account is all new to me. I always learn a lot from your posts, Tara.
I bet a lot of the books Jefferson gave to the Library of Congress after the fire in 1814 had been given to him by Wythe. The student learnt well from his teacher.
Thanks, Tara Ross, for sharing this wonderful American who is indeed an American treasure. His influence upon the beginnings of our nation and contributions are perhaps immeasurable.
Greed is responsible for many crime. While Mr. Wythe lay dying he came to the conclusion that Sweney had poisoned him. Even though Sweney was acquitted of murder he got his comeupance.

Amazing how some most obscure people through history have influenced some of our most celebrated founding fathers.

I have heard this man's name in the past, but knew nothing of him until today. Thanks, Tara, for your enlightening posts!
I look forward to your posts every morning. Thank you so much
George Wyeth was an extraordinary man! The list of his accomplishments are remarkable for anyone. To have died as he did, is a sad ending.

An amazing, but extremely sad, story about a great man who influenced our country.
He mentored so many other founding fathers, and served in important capacities. We truly stand on the shoulders of giants.
Always the best story’s everyday, thanks Tara
What a wonderful story and historical gem. Thank you Tara.

Awesome to learn more of this person's journey and life. Too bad the culprit did not receive the punishment he deserved.
Thank you for this story of a Patriot doing his best for his country and fellow Americans and then being poisoned to death by a person close to him!
Thank you Tara!
