Upon occasion depending on the circumstances. These men all reached into their reserves and gave all… I am sure this is where the phrase comes from. So proud to read hear stories of men and women who found courage, determination and reserve strength. A salute to them all.

Another amazing story. And amazing he lived to tell about it. So good to hear how some of those whose lives he saved came to thank him. So many stories people should hear to help them appreciate the freedoms of our wonderful country. Thank you Tara.

"I see into the flag". "I see beyond the flag". He has a very clear vision I would say.

The last paragraph, where Mr. Wetzel spoke of what the Medal of Honor meant to him, and how it reminded him of the flag choked me up. He epitomized those awarded the Medal of Honor.

Thank you Tara. Gary Wetzel was Superman on that day in Vietnam when he used the 50 caliber machine gun of his downed helicopter to eliminate significant enemy resistance despite being seriously injured and then he helped save a number of his fellow soldiers.

His actions were superhuman and he was deserving of the MOH.

I think very important is that he understands that he was one of so very many who fought and died to keep our flag flying. I salute you Sir.

A humorous and very brave Man. The last paragraph though shows his real feeling for his country. He is a Hero and very deserving of the M.O.H.

Mr. Welzel , SIR - you may believe you were only doing your job … but it was a Hellish job few have faced , fewer have succeeded at doing and , considering the price you paid for “just doing your job” , only a precious few Heroes of Your caliber have survived the job you took on . God Bless you sir - your actions on that day are indeed ……….

the stuff of legend ! 🇺🇸❤️🥲
