I grew up in the vicinity of where these actions took place and heard the story of Rev. Caldwell from my late dad who was also a history buff. My 5th great-grandfather fought in the battle of Connecticut Farms and his dad, my 6th great-grandfather, was a teamster who drove supplies to Washington's troops.

Loved the story - My father (who has passed) retired after 30 years of service to Marines and Sailors as a United States Navy Chaplain

Reverend Caldwell's place in the American fight for independence is one of too many that are too easily forgotten or overlooked. That his is death was so close to the ultimate victory is sad. Let us remember his efforts and him.

Thank you Tara for another history lesson that I have never heard before. Reverend James Caldwell should be remembered as a man who was dedicated to the American cause of freedom and independence. He lost his church and his wife to the war and then he was murdered for his beliefs and his support of the American cause.

So many stories of bravery and love of the nascent country. We can be thankful they pledged their lives, their fortunes, their sacred honor to give pride to the generations to come. Thanks, Tara.

What a great reminder of "those shepherds and chaplains" that serve in the ranks of the troops and spend as much time praying for their comrades, as those that are reloading bullets to protect themselves from the enemies.

Our chaplains are there, not only to give spiritual helps to our soldiers, airmen, and sailors, but to show them that they can know God's presence because "God's Spirit is in this place" for a Victory over fears.

I loved this true story of battlefield strengths.
