“Brotherhood” demanded that West go back and help. He’d learned this growing up in an orphanage in Kentucky, where he felt that he had 125 brothers. Those boys all had each other’s backs.
Remarkable, truly heroic , action needed and taken by Pvt West to save the day and the lives of his comrades ! Extraordinary courage under fire … may God grant this humble man the eternal peace and happiness he so richly deserves ! 👏🏻🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
Such a simple principle, but one that can change everything for the better...treat everyone like you want to be treated. Ernest West lived this out in his life. They weren’t just words. He was an honorable man and like other Medal of Honor recipients he was very humble.
Ernie West, “I think, today, in this day and time, if we would think of brothers and sisters, we’d have a better society to live in,” he concluded. “We need to be good to people. Treat people like you’d like to be treated. We’re all the same . . . We’re Americans.”.
Thank you, Ernie West, for all you did for your country and your humility in doing so!
Obviously a simple man who lacked much of what is called "formal education" but who had a Phd in living life in the way that really matters! God Bless this brave Patriot!
Somehow, liking this post says too little. This is a remarkable man and a great soldier. My respect for Ernie West is more than I can put into words. A real American and a role model for us today. May he rest in peace.
This man had it right. You have got to treat everyone like you want to be treated, A lost concept.
Today's verse was Love your neighbor. He knew this in his heart. Awesome person to follow. RIP Sir!.
Thank you, Tara.

And thank you, Tara, for sending this story out!
Pfc West has once again shown the dedication to his fellow servicemen while remaining humble about his actions.

🇺🇲 Truly remarkable story.
Thanks, TR! 🇺🇸
I am always amazed at the wisdom of people who were raised simply and respectfully.
Thanks Tara 😊 for another MOH Monday of a special kind of Hero!
Thank you, Tara. These stories are badly needed these days.

These are amazing people with amazing stories, made more amazing by their unwillingness to seek attention for their duty.
