Ernest H. Dervishian was an unlikely military hero. He’d chosen law school over medical school because he’d been unable to stand the sight of “gruesome things” during a tour of a medical college.
Thank you Mr. Dervishian. How many American lives were saved in possible future battles by taking 54 prisoners of war out of the fight in that 25 minutes.
Mr. Dervishian forced 39 enemy soldiers to surrender and it wasn't anything special? His actions were very heroic and he certainly was entitled to the MOH. I find the humble words of nearly all of the MOH awardees to be similar. Thank you Tara.
Typical of MoH recipients he was totally humble about his actions, but he did what needed to be done even when he was afraid....Just doing what has to be done without regard to personal fear is the mark of a true hero. Thank you for being awesome, Sir!
Reminds me of Sgt. York! Mr. Dervishian performed an impressive act of Courage!
Thank you Tara, for another story of Heroism in the face of death to save others from the same!
A Big THANK YOU TO ALL WHO THEIR NATION!

Unlikely hero indeed! I was impressed that he took prisoners when he likely could have ended their lives instead. Thank you for sharing, Tara!
