It does not take being remembered to be effective. It is thanks to those who, in spite of all odds, never give up that makes any effort successful. Heroes all.

Thank you Tara for your efforts to help recognize Col. Elijah Clarke who kept returning to battle following injuries sustained in battle with the British. His efforts helped turn the tide for the Patriots in the South, during the Revolutionary War.

Thank you, Tara, for bringing the story of this hero and so many more like him to our attention so that we can pass along their stories to family and friends!

Every hero counted back then and we need to remember their accomplishments today and forever!

We must never forget!

These are the stories I like most now. The stories of the small local militia bands many of which operated independently to harass and damage the enemy. Being from NJ where they're a lot of these stories it wasn't hard to even find one in the town of Sayreville where I grew up. Ok it was more of a skirmish but it happened there in an area called roundabout. Also the old spye inn that was located in the Morgan section.

The Southern militia members were the American Revolution in the South after the fall of Charleston until the Southern Continental Army was able to be rebuilt. Sadly, they had been trapped in Charleston. The terms of surrender were changed by the victors after they had been negotiated, signed, and placed into motion. Many wonderful, southern patriots continued to raise their crops and fight the British. Search was Elijah Clarke, and he is a hero of the American Revolution.

There are many unknown heroes who made a difference in preserving freedom. Some are from long ago, but there are many others right up to current times that did their part without expecting recognition. They did it for love of country and fellow countrymen. Thank you for bringing another such patriot to our attention.

Clarke felt betrayed. But he also refused to surrender and others followed his lead. They simply refused to give up.

There seems to always be a remnant of those whose patriotism is so passionate that they will not give in to tyranny then and to this present day. Thank God for them.

There are so many we have to be thankful to and sadly future generations seem to be not understanding there’s anything to be thankful for.
