Young men, and young women these days, with their assumption of immortality, are prone to this kind of behavior. Of course, getting this far out of hand made extra PT and other odious punishments out of the question. Examples had to be made!
There are always stories to tell among young warriors out to prove their manhood in some testy fashion. That probably hasn't changed today. We had ours when I was in boot camp and stationed aboard ship. They make for great conversation and laughs later in life when we have grown old and can celebrate our youthful foolishness over a glass of eggnog during this season that induces reflections on old memories
Thank you Tara. Young men and alcohol have the potential for misdeeds. I think that the incident was probably handled properly. It couldn't be ignored and it couldn't be over disciplined.
In the late 1960s, I was stationed at a Naval Dispensary and the Captain would let us break into the 5 gallon containers of grain alcohol, which were officially used to compound prescription drugs. Of course, it didn't get too out of hand. Certainly not similar to the unfortunate incident at West Point in 1826. Merry Christmas to everyone!

That wouldn't happen today, the marxist trained sheep from the colleges of the communists would just say "yessir massa"!
