Families suffer greatly when their hero dies but oh, the pride for their actions. Like his dad said though, the medals didn't matter but his son did and I know he would have given them all back to have his son again. Praise God for the bravery he had and the love for his troops that he acted on.

What a gallant young man. We salute him and his family. How heart wrenching it must have been for David Champagne’s friend to hold him in his dying moments and know David’s actions had saved his life and others too. Thank you, Tara, for keeping the memories alive. Every day we wake up free because of their service and sacrifice. It’s a privilege to honor all of them.
