Families suffer greatly when their hero dies but oh, the pride for their actions. Like his dad said though, the medals didn't matter but his son did and I know he would have given them all back to have his son again. Praise God for the bravery he had and the love for his troops that he acted on.
What a gallant young man. We salute him and his family. How heart wrenching it must have been for David Champagne’s friend to hold him in his dying moments and know David’s actions had saved his life and others too. Thank you, Tara, for keeping the memories alive. Every day we wake up free because of their service and sacrifice. It’s a privilege to honor all of them.
Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday. Corporal David Champagne was a young man when he gave his life for his Country. His brave actions saved American lives that day in Korea, while costing his own life.
As part of a patriotic family, Champagne enlisted in the Marines out of high school, and as probably true for the father of all young people who give their life in action, his father mourned his sons life with guilt that it wasn't himself who sacrificed his life for his country.
May God bless David Champagne and may God bless all who have served this great nation, as a member of the military.
A heart-rendering story of a hero who gave his all for his men. What a great sacrifice made for freedom of those who would live long after him. I must ask myself if I am living a life worthy of this and countless other sacrifices… I don’t have to look further than myself. I can encourage others to live worthy of these. Thank you, Tara, for sharing Corporal David B. Champagne’s and many other heroes’ wonderful story.
As we have all just observed Veterans Day, I’m reminded that we all are able to do what we do in this country because of those who served. Thank you David Champagne. We honor you!
Simper Fi Corporal Champagne! May you Rest in Peace. I’m sure you told St. Peter you did say, “Another Marine reporting Sir, I’ve served my time in Hell!”

Champagne gave his all, for his fellows and the duty that he chose to take on. May he he be remembered for his efforts and sacrifice.
Just damn. So sad that incredible young people have to perish. But thank God there are men like that.

That's a pretty dramatic ending! Wow!
