I’ll bet this story wasn’t included in any of the 1619 project writings!

Thank you Tara. Crispus Attucks became a martyr and a symbol of the Revolution for having given his life in the effort to achieve freedom from British oppression. From your information Tara, he may well have been standing up for freedom from whomever had been keeping him from enjoying a life free from the chains of slavery.

May Mr. Attucks rest in peace with the knowledge that he was an impetus in our quest for a free country.

Your post about this great American hero is the first I have heard of him. He left a good message of an American who was also African doing all he could to defend the freedom of this young nation. It’s interesting to think that George Washington may have been motivated by Attucks actions when fortifying Dorchester.

Tara. Thank you for your articles. The Boston Massacre is a very interesting event, especially the fact that John Adams defended the British soldiers.

Can I ask? Do you have a certain formula you use to research the events?

Do you have a formula for writing the research you found?

Just asking because I am always trying to improve my articles on politics at Repubblica on Substack.

Thanks for your time .

Regardless of whether Attucks was the first casualty in the war he was a true hero for the revolution. He was considered as such for the folks in Boston. Am glad John Adams finally woke up.

Great article on little known effort by Crispin. Many stories through history have shown that men under servitude had a great desire to fight for a cause and they did. Thank you Crispin…courage knows no race.

I learned of Crispus in elementary school. Sadly I doubt the youth of today are being taught such things. Thank you Tara!

Atticus is a hero of the American Revolution who knew what he was risking! The event was one which spurred the cause and he helped to precipitate further actions to show the Colonists’ ire at being taxed without a voice as free English people.

This is a new one for me! I didn't realize Adam's was defending English soldiers...and Crispus Attucks isn't familiar either, as he was obviously an important piece of our fight for independence!! Great story, I would like more information on this part of our history!! Very interesting...Thank you for today's lesson Tara!!🇺🇸👍🇺🇸

This story should be front and center today! Once again, a man who was here because of slavery pushed that burden off and defended this country!
