I am greatly afraid that for over the century that has passed, so has the work ethics of over 50% of our population. Instead the new generation wants to start at the top of the ladder who do dare to enter the job market while many others are content to live off their parents or rely on government handouts. I fear for the future of our Republic Nation and it’s once proud work ethic and freedoms. Now we pander to the numerous freaked out minorities, illegal aliens, and career politicians that have destroyed our country. 😢😢😢

Sadly over time the politicians with their terrible policies have created a mostly lazy population. The last several years with a four year break between administrations it has increased exponentially. It’s sad when people want to get free stuff. It takes away their dignity. I am sure Coolidge and other former presidents would be deeply disappointed by the state of the country today. Happy Labor Day to the still hard working Americans who take pride in their labor and set a good example for the younger generations and others.

In a word, No. Silent Cal would not be proud of the American people today. Where the character of people was to endure work, and to toil without idleness a century ago, it isn't unusual or rare to find many who no longer value work but, depend on government (the rest of us) to provide for them. Soon, the few who work had better be rich, in order to afford the high taxes required to pay for those who won't. of course, as long as the government prints worthless money and spends into infinity, high taxes may not happen. at least, until the collapse, and the end.

Thank you Tara. Now, I am even more distressed and disappointed in our fellow citizens.

I do not think Coolidge would say those things about America today!

Sad that we are losing the work ethic, it is what keeps us the greatest country in the world. We all need to remember there is “no such thing as a free lunch”.

I am sure that the vast majority of Americans are hard workers today. Those we see who are not are the loud ones getting the attention.

Now there is a social comment with a question wrapped up in a history lesson, if I ever heard one.

I think the answer is as individual as the people of the nation.

This is a another battle we must persevere in to preserve our country and our heritage. It is another piece of the puzzle that fortifies our society and a healthy full orbed citizenry just as our political fights. Yes it will take healthy government policies to restore the dignity and honor of work as well as our own resolve to push back against government attempts to dumb down and squash freedom to pursue individual dreams.

Only took us 100 years to destroy that concept. 😕

That's an excellent Question Tara 🤔 it seems there's too many that enter in that Toil Not these days! There lies the problem. Enjoy your weekend 😊

For many I think yes. There is a sunset that feel they deserve something for nothing which many politicians are fueling their point of view. Sad state of affairs.

I am retired now but had several businesses. I always had a stack of applications on file in case I needed new employees. The one restaurant I sold in 2014 is in bad shape as they can't get enough workers. I don't understand because they pay very well and the owners are former employees of mine that worked for me and really know the business.

I have other friends who still own businesses of different types and are facing the same problems. Their good workers are reaching retirement age and they can't find people to fill those spots. The whole situation just baffles me.

Silent Cal would be greatly disappointed.

Despite the best efforts of those that would profit by anxiety, look at your neighbors and friends. Do they work hard, worry about their kids, sometimes struggle to make ends meet? How is that different than your Mom and Dad's time? Don't listen to the people making money off your dissatisfaction, look around you. What do you personally see. Not what you read abut or see on social.
