Thank you Tara.

What a sad but compelling story of a tragic death and the humanity of a president.

President Coolidge blamed himself for the situation that caused the death of his own son. Of course, the blood infection that caused young Calvin to die could have occurred whether his father was president or not; however, rational thinking isn't always available when such a terrible thing happens.

Such a sad story! I can only imagine the grief and pain they suffered. The cost, in his mind, of inhabiting the White House was more than he could bear. There is so much we don't see going on in the minds of our leaders. Pray for clearness of purpose for each one.

That’s such a sad story. Thank you for sharing it today. Silent Cal and his family suffered greatly in the White House. Reaching the office of president is not a guarantee of happiness while there. We forget that.

How sad a consequence for not wearing socks. I can definitely understand the Grief of Calvin Coolidge being the father of 2 sons and a daughter myself. To have been elected to the Presidency and then suffering a devastating loss as he did must have just compounded the level of grief he suffered. I can only pray that they are all together as a family together now in heaven. RIP. 😢

Thank you, Tara, for this sad story from the beginning of Coolidge’s term in office!

I minor injury, by today’s standards, led to the death of the son of the President!

May the young man Rest In Peace with his family members!

Thank you, Tara, What a sad and lovely tale. We never know what's going to happen, and medicine can be a blessing and a curse. Interesting CCSr.'s birthday was July 4th and his son CCJr. should pass on that day. May the Blessings Be.

🇺🇲 One of my favorite Presidents, and the last of the true, small government conservatives.

Toigh and stoic in politics, passionate when it came to family and friends.

Thanks, TR 🇺🇲

Sulfa drugs would be in wide use within 10 years. Very sad to see this timing.

Lincoln, Polk, and JFK all lost children right before, during, or after their presidency too. I can't imagine....

Such a heartbreaking 💔 account of a President suffering as a father the loss of his young son. All parents can feel the how painful the loss of a child would be. President Coolidge blaming himself was to be expected under the circumstances. He was hurting. I wonder about his wife. Perhaps in the midst of such deep sadness they weren’t able to comfort each other. Very sad event. Thanks for sharing it, Tara!
