Well well, even then usurpers we’re underhandedly trying to gain power by bad mouthing and underhanded methods. Both Generals and Presidents even today face similar things directed at their competence. I believe those trying to depose are eventually exposed as disrupters with self interest in seeking power.

I had not realized Washington's words, “his importance in this Army, exists more in his own imagination than in reallity.” could have morphed into our own saying, "he's a legend in his own mind".

It seems the futher up he ladder you go, the more evident, the backstabbing and the jockeying for more power is...just like today!! They seem to loose sight of why they are there to begin with. I beieve that Washington never lost sight of the "prize" of independence, and that is why he continued on, to be "Father" of our country. Thanks for today's lesson Tara 🇺🇸 👍🇺🇸

Interesting how looking back on history we see clear parallels to today. There’s always a few who are deceitful and will do anything to gain power. When they are caught they blame others of doing what they are guilty of doing. It never seems to work out for them in the long run. Washington wasn’t perfect, but he had a perfect goal. You might even say he would be called MAGA today. He worked hard to form the groundwork for our United States.

Thank God that cooler heads prevailed in order to squash the uprising against General Washington. Insubordination cannot be allowed or the rotten will spoil the whole. George Washington was so fortunate to have been appraised of the letter (he may have had other indicators as well) and to confront the insubordination quickly. He obviously had many more supporters than deniers or he wouldn't have emerged from Valley Forge as Commander in Chief.

Thank you Tara and may God continue to bless the United States of America.

Reminds me of Mordecai and Haman in the book of Esther. Human nature has been on display throughout the ages. It’s character raises it’s ugly head in the halls of power most often.

I don't remember hearing this before. I think I'll have to add some good revolutionary war history books to my reading list. Since you reignited my interest in historical books this year, I have 15 finished, mostly on WW II and one on the revolutionary war, The Swamp Fox which was very interesting and enjoyable. It even got me to squeeze in 4 novels that were not history related, all since March. Thanks for inspiring me.

Thank God for the wisdom of Washington in handling of this affair. It was one of the most ignoble and foolish acts of any group of subordinates. Yet, it becomes another event meant for evil which was turned to good because of its eventual outcomes!

Envy is a very human thing. Not necessarily a good one, but people such as Washington , always inspire devotion and envy. Thankful that Gates did not succeed in removing Washington.
