Thank you Tara. I wish that I could go back in time and experience all of the details and minutia of these meetings surrounding the formation of the Continental Army and the Continental Congress. We are such a fortunate people to have been served by men such as Adams and Washington. God bless the United States of America!
Thanks for reminding us that our revolution and war for independents was not an easy task. Like hearding cats many things can into play, not only who would lead this army but who would pay for it! So many moving pieces yet somehow our founders put it together. They pledged their wealth and their lives to the cause! Freedom is never easy or free! Thanks Tara!!!
I think it is very interesting how that “Colonel Washington of Virginia” wore a uniform to the Continental Congress daily until he was appointed commanding officer. He was perhaps the most experienced military officer present. Although there were other more experienced military officers who had held the position of a general in the British Army, and were now retired to the colonies Washington still became the choice.
A fine example of what competent and experienced folks like Adams and Washington accomplished for our early nation. Can't begin to speculate on how John Hancock, a wealthy smuggler, would have performed in this job. Hard to believe he would have remained in the field for eight years and enduring the dark and cold winter days the army suffered at Valley Forge.
It was a daunting task to form this nation. They didn’t take baby steps either. They rolled up their sleeves and went to work forming the beautiful country that would grow into the United States of America. These men may have had different ideas and opinions on how to do things, but one thing united them and that was the goal of forming a nation built by, of and for the people. They wanted the foundation to be justice and liberty. 🗽 Thanks, Tara, for sharing more details of our awesome history.

Thank God the army was created, with Washington in charge!
Few things are straightforward - almost everything is the result of negotiation. Thank you for this bit of history, Tara Ross!
