Yeager is one of my all time favorites! I cannot remember when it was he was flying chase or something when the pilot suddenly lost all power and even could not see so Yeager flew his wing and talked him into a smooth landing…in his easy going and smooth West Virginia accent. The incident went viral somehow and the airwaves were suddenly filled with that easy West Virginia accent as every pilot suddenly spoke with that smooth drawl!

A childhood hero, Chuck Yeager was definitely a hero for my generation. Breaking the sound barrier, a normal thing now, was the feat of the unknown.

An Air Force pilot had the skills and the intestinal fortitude to be the first man to break the sound barrier with a relatively unstable rocket plane. Test pilot Yeager, a man's man. Thank you Tara.
