Time and time again, modest raise themselves up to do miraculous things for the love, honor and needs of our Country. God Bless them and God Bless the USA.
What a man and hero! Charles Thomas did what Heros do, he was a leader and he didn't flinch in taking the fire that led to ultimate victory of the battle. Although it nearly cost his own life.
Thomas' actions were worthy of the MOH and finally, he would receive the Medal posthumously. I believe that his and others deeds went unrewarded because of racial discrimination but just maybe, the bravery displayed by Mr. Thomas helped to resolve some of the discrimination for future heroes.
Rest in peace Mr. Thomas and thank you for your sacrifice for our continued freedom.
I have been reading many history biographies and autobiographies lately. It seems that the black Americans took great pride in their country during both the Civil War and the World Wars. How sad that our military only saw the color of their skin instead of the content of their character.
Lt. Thomas did inspire his men, obviously because he took the lead, and just plain did not quit. Even when seriously wounded, he kept leading and kept going until he had his men in position to achieve the task at hand.
Lt. Charles Thomas was a Real Hero in his service to our Country. May he Rest-In-Peace. He should have received a MOH at that time rather than later. Thank you Tara for another great War Account.
It never ceases to amaze me just how much those who receive the CMH site their activities as just doing their job, or in this case, just trying to stay alive. Well done, Captain Thomas, RIP.

All Honor to Major Charles Thomas. And to his Battalion for the Honor they deserve. Going above and beyond..

A remarkable American man who put his country above his own needs and wants. We need more of his kind of man! May he rest in peace.
I'm reminded of the Patton quote about dying for your country every time I read your Medal Monday stories!
