πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² Had not known of the Carlisle Commission until today. Thanks, TR πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²

(nice to see our BS detectors and standing up to bullies was part of our collective DNA from the beginning.

I sincerely hope we haven't lost that, it's so needed today).

I am so proud of our founders and of General George Washington for their response to the Carlisle Commission. Nothing short of acknowledgement of the United States as an independent nation by the British King would cause Congress to even consider a cessation of war. No half measures were acceptable. God bless the United States of America. Thank you Tara.

George was not willing to let his vassal state go so easily, even when the French interposed! The NEED for freedom rang true and the Congress held fast to freedom.

The American patriots were wise and cautious. They were not to be fooled by false overtures of peace. It would be good if that was as true today as then. Perhaps we are getting there little by little. Looking forward to more about the Carlisle Commission. The cartoon is quite interesting.

Another moment I had never heard before. Thanks Tara.

General Washington was no going to allow the British to water down their resolve. I can only imagine the British attitude toward this fledgling nation.

Grateful those in Congress kept the Independence forefront in the overall mission. Can't imagine what would have happened if we agreed. Thanks Tara for today's lesson.

The bravery and fortitude of our country's founders is incredible. I wonder what they would think of the state of things now.

Yep. Too little too late. The Brits spurned their opportunity. Too much blood and too much destruction to just back away from their cause. And the British could not do much better to contain their American colonies at that point.
