Bruce P. Crandall certainly led from the front. His "beyond" brave efforts that day in 1965 would probably not have been attempted by many but, he knew that someone had to do it. Many men survived that battle solely because he had the courage to risk his life many times, to deliver supplies and men into the action.
God bless you Sir. Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday.
Every Medal of Honor story - and recipient - is filled with bravery, honor, and others before self, and this is no different. One wonders how the lives he saved impacted others for generations. The things that Bruce P. Crandall did to save others actually scare me to even read ! Thank you, sir.
Wow - that is really too weak a word to describe Bruce Crandall's actions that day. I am so glad that both he and his wingman received the MOH as they both certainly deserved it. I have heard other leaders say those words about "Don't ask someone to do what you won't do" and that is what truly makes them leaders. We, in the US, owe much to such men and we can thank God for them every day.
No, I am not. I am from a service family though and the military means a lot to me. I consider myself blessed to be a citizen of the US and to have our fine military keeping us safe.
His comment is something every service person today needs to hear. Thank you Tara for another amazing story about a person who was willing to sacrifice for his fellow soldiers.

22 flights and 3 helicopters! Are you kidding me!!?? “Above and beyond the call of duty” is woefully inadequate for both of these men.

“Don’t ask someone to do what you won’t do,” Crandall once said of his time in Vietnam. “You lead from the front.” Amen!
A true patriot and man of honor. A man who laid down his life for others.

Pardon my nosey-ness, but are you related to LTG Hal Moore?
No, I am not. I am from a service family though and the military means a lot to me. I consider myself blessed to be a citizen of the US and to have our fine military keeping us safe.
Thank you.
Your family's service is very much appreciated!
Thank you, Tara.
What brave, caring men, these Airmen of America.
Who wouldn’t follow leaders like him?.
He was well portrayed in the movie When we were solders.
Leading by example. A trait needed today. Thanks Tara for this lesson of an amazing hero.
🇺🇲 Snake from the Mel Gibson movie? The reality is so much more amazing than Hollywood can captures on film.
Thank you, Col. Crandall! 🇺🇸
And Thanks for sharing, TR!
You lead from the front! What a great post. Unarmed helicopter, couldn’t even shoot back, and still kept going back!
So many heroic deeds are never noticed 🇺🇸

Thank you, Tara.
Wow!! Just - Wow!!
What an awesome job these two men did 👏. Thank you both for your Service!
Thank you Tara for all you do 😊
