Buker wasn’t going to just sit around. He swung into action, charging through the intense enemy fire, straight toward one of the enemy bunkers. He single-handedly destroyed that bunker.
Betsy Tara Ross that's all the life God planned for him. Thinking about this after 9/11 really make a point that these are great people answering a special calling. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Serving your country to fulfill your responsibility as a citizen is the highest and most virtuous motive for choosing to serve. What an individual does in the service of the country is the culmination of the training and commitment to do all that is necessary for the benefit of your brothers. The character displayed speaks volumes about the character of Americans and the spirit of their Constitution. Sgt Buker is a prime example of that character.
"A young man (or woman), with his whole life in front of him, chooses to serve his country instead." Wrong in this case and in every other one I've read about. He was saving his men, nothing more, nothing less, and there is nothing more needed. I've never seen a MOH narrative that ever mentions an act of heroism undertaken to save the Constitution. It is always to save his buds or his men.
Sergeant Brian Buker was the man who got it done and his actions defeated the enemy nearly single handed while saving the lives of his fellow soldiers. He was awarded the MOH posthumously for his efforts. Although he gave his life for his country, his Medal is on display for other young people to see.
May God bless Mr. Buker and all of the other heroes who have given their lives in service to this great nation. Thank you Tara.
