One hell of a soldier! Duty, honor, determination & guts. That's what makes up all these MOH soldiers.

Like all MoH recipients he said his metal belonged to all his men! That seems to be a trait of brave heroic men!! Geat Story Tara!!!

A very wise statement to live by - be the best at whatever you do - if we all strived to do that, just think what we could get done! I know that I, and many others, are so glad that it wasn't his day to die and because of that many were saved. I bet they thanked God for that tiger, as scared as they must have been. Thank you, Tara.

Tara, they just keep coming. Benny Adkins was just an average soldier doing his job and he wasn't doing heroic things, at least, according to Mr. Adkins.

The things our heroes do in the face of extreme danger is just superhuman, in my opinion.

Thank you Tara for telling this story and thank you Benny Adkins for your heroic service. May God bless you Mr Adkins and may God bless all who have served this great nation.

Finally, I am sorry that it took so many years for Mr Adkins to receive the MOH.

The standard is even higher to receive awards for Special Forces, because things are already bad when they arrive! That's why they're brought in.

🇺🇲 CSM Adkins was correct, the men he fought with were heroes. But, the Command Sgt. Major was also wrong, he was indeed a hero and most deserving of his MoH. 🇺🇸

Thanks for sharing this, TR!

I would add lest we forget, but, sadly, I'm guessing most of us are just learning of his story, thanks to you, today.

Another Great American Hero. The nice thing about this, is that these folks that survive the Vietnam War, walk among us but we may never know it. Just lifts my spirits.

I LOVE your tales of real American heroism. I can't get enough. I'm a Vietnam combat vet and I knew one soldier who was TWICE nominated for an MOH. Thank you very much for your dedication.
