The British had Benedict Arnold trapped in a channel by the island. They retired for the night, thinking they would finish off Arnold in the morning. Big mistake.
Arnold was such a fierce and loyal fighter at one point. But his ambitions to advance....and not being able to handle waiting for Washington's timing to recognize him fully....overcame him in a vulnerable moment. Truly sad! He could have been a founding father of this nation!
