Interesting piece of history I was unaware had taken place. Extremely glad it did not effect the outcome of the battle for America and freedom. British forces were obviously formidable. They were determined not to relinquish Jamaica to the French.

I bet this piece of history is covered in English history classes and perhaps not in French ! I don’t recall it from school either, nevertheless an important naval battle. Thanks, Tara, for finding these “little tidbits of history” for us.

Thank you Tara. The British were obviously still a superior Navy. They were not about to give up Jamaica without a battle and the French fleet hadn't combined with the Spanish fleet.

The battle of the Saintes didn't turn out like the French had planned.
