The time is now at hand when we shall see whether America has virtue enough to be free or not.
A signer of the Declaration of Independence made this statement mere days before it was signed. We are one year out from America's 250th birthday! I imagine he would think this statement is still true today. What do you think?

Bartlett knew that true freedom has a foundation of morality and requires responsibility to maintain it. These are things too many modern Americans ignore.
