Decatur was right to refuse Baron his return to rank. Maintaining military discipline and training is paramount and not only that being the concern but also concern for the men that would be serving under him but, the level of respect those men might have for their commanding officer. Baron's behavior was a prideful selfish desire with little concern for any of those considerations.
