She was alive when women got the vote by amendment. She was raised without air conditioning. Likely was well acquainted with outhouses. Lived through the Depression and prospered. The generation of my parents and grandparents raising them. My grandparents went from being born on the frontier to witnessing high performance military aircraft in training during WW1 & WW2. Today, we haven’t a clue about just how tough that generation was. They did their best for their children but rarely coddled them. Finch was a lady and was tough to endure what she did as well as those women who were breaking new ground. And they would have thought it preposterous to consider them anything but women. They lived it! Thanks for sharing this amazing historical woman!

Gender doesn't matter if the person can do the job. The Greatest Generation included at least 50% women. God bless all who served or are currently serving this great nation in every capacity. Thank you Tara.

Barbara Miller Finch didn’t expect special treatment. She was willing to work hard to prove herself and persevered until she was successful. She certainly was an outstanding reporter. She accurately and with honesty reported on the warriors lives for the folks back home. She was the epitome of what good reporters should be.
