Dulinsky was a United States Marine—and the first female Marine to serve in a combat zone. Nor was it just any combat zone. MSgt. Dulinsky had volunteered to go to Vietnam.
Thank you Tara. Sgt Major Barbara Dulinsky was a tough as nails Marine. Semper Fi Sgt Major. Her service paved the way for many women in the Marines and the Navy.
I had just finished Hospital Corps school and was stationed at Camp Pendleton when Ms. Dulinsky went to Vietnam.
Salt and crusty with a well defined hatred for combat boots. Well done ma’am. WomenMarines were prominent in my family during WEII, we had 3. They took no stuff, and could also be soft hearted. Bless you ladies, each and every one!
Thank you Tara! I want our daughters, granddaughters know how strong women truly are! Whether in the battle field or behind the lines. Raising sons and daughters to help protect our freedoms! God Bless America..🇺🇸
Women have always been involved in fighting for our country although the military has been slow to recognize that. MSgt. Barbara Dulinsky was one of the intrepid women who was able to prove that women can and should have a place in the military. There ARE jobs that require physical strength that most women do not possess and should not be expected to qualify for. BUT there are MANY jobs women are more than qualified to perform!
Msgt Barbara Dulinsky was a true Marine of the highest order! She helped create a solid foundation for all the women who followed her example of true grit & leadership under very difficult circumstances.
I was there in Vietnam at the same time as she, but fortunately stationed on a destroyer with no one shooting at us - thankfully!
My utmost respect to all those who had to serve ashore during that time.

Thank you Tara. My wife and I both served under Col Manning, whom you quote in the Sgt Maj's story. SF
