We used to celebrate Army Day on April 6 of each year because it's the anniversary of the day that we entered World War I. How many opportunities we took to reinforce patriotism in those days.
Much has been done over the recent years to weaken the reputation and strength of our military. Patriotism still exists among those who value a strong defense but their influence is being drowned out and muted by those who do not understand the cost necessary to preserve their freedom. Perhaps we can turn it around. Strong leadership with clear thinking is so important. Everything starts at the top.
Yes, when I was young, we learned Patriotism from our schools, our parents and our neighbors. All of them were deeply involved in protecting this great nation during WW2 and Patriotism meant much then.
I'm afraid that we have lost much of the meaning of Patriotism today, but we have an all volunteer military and I'm sure that when it hits the fan, we will again become oveetly Patriotic. Thank you Tara for another history lesson.
