I have not heard this story before Tara, thank you. "I was born for a storm and a calm does not suit me" seems to be a justified outlook for someone who has lost his father and mother and both brothers before the age of 15. I must learn more about our 7th president.

How someone who was a prisoner of war at the age of 13, having contracted smallpox and lost his whole family ends up as President of the United States must be known.

Thank you for sharing your "two minute history lessons" with us, Tara. I share your posts and encourage others to subscribe. These stories are such an encouragement in these dark days of US government. To me it seems it was a time that loyalty and patriotism was the common bond; not greed and self-seeking power. Thank you.
