We all pray that this will never happen again, yet we have another madman in Europe trying to do the same thing to his neighbors.

Sad that the emperor was determined at all costs to continue the war, no matter how his people suffered. It's the same attitude we're seeing now from Russia. Do people still think Putin and his shirtless "man-boobs" look is so studly? Look at the Ukrainian people's suffering, and the sacrifices being made in all of Europe. If Putin does succeed in Ukraine, do you really think he'll stop there?

Yes, the Emperor and Empress were safe in their bunker. It is always the people that suffer the consequences of failed leadership and poor policies while the elites and political class are rarely affected.

Thank you Tara. You have made me aware for the first time of the utter devastation and personal suffering of the Japanese people. I hope that we never have to do something like this again.

Once again, we must learn from our history. That is why it is so important!

Tara, thank you for your dedication to teach us real history. I'm sad to be at the age of 62 and just now learning about my grandfather and my great uncle in WW2 from reading old newspaper articles from a small community social column. My great uncle was an electricial technichian on B29's, and he was also a gunner- based in Okinawa. I can't help but wonder now what he took part in. I understand much more about him now. Like most of the WW2 Veterans, he didn't talk about it. I just came here to follow you on substack, it's much better than FB. Thanks again.
