James Monroe was so wise! We see this happening before our eyes. It’s been in the process for a long time. We are just beginning to become aware of it and how far down this road we have traveled. Praying there is still time and the means to reverse course and get our country back on solid ground. I think it depends on the people being willing and able to make and enforce major changes. We need to educate ourselves and then to focus on educating our children.

I feel those in Congress need to read this more than I. If only I could email all 435 members this quote.

Education is the fundamental part, not only in action and consequences, but in accepting responsibility one has as a citizen and a participant in society. We have let slide hard work, respect and obedience to the law without which freedom suffers. It will take time but we need to chip away at it and keep fighting for the Republic.

So true and well said by a President not as known or popular. I particularly like the word “constitutional “ which doesn’t seem used or followed enough.

So true - both what he said about ignorance and corruption. We need wisdom and redemption from corruption. We need God.

I believe that James Monroe was absolutely correct. I agree that it is up to the individual to understand the right course of action and to make the necessary changes. However, I am not optimistic that the media, schools, government and family will allow the exercise of free will and free thinking in time to reverse course. I am hopeful but not optimistic for the future of this once great nation.

I'm very sorry for the pessimistic outlook but I see so many obstacles and such little ambition to make the changes necessary. I pray that I am wrong. Thank you Tara.
