TDIH: William Pitt's fiery speech
“I rejoice that America has resisted,” he stormed.
On this day in 1766, a powerful member of the British House of Commons rose to "deliver my mind and heart upon the state of America." In part because of William Pitt's words, the much-hated Stamp Act would soon be repealed.
“I rejoice that America has resisted,” Pitt stormed. “Three million of people so dead to all feelings of liberty, as voluntarily to submit to be slaves, would have been fit instruments to make slaves of the rest.”
He spoke these words nearly 300 years ago, but don't you think it's important that we remember this fierce spirit today? This determined spirit characterized America at her founding: It's the same spirit needed to keep us going.

Yes, the words and spirit of Mr. William Pitt should be alive and well here, today. We must not become so complacent as to allow ourselves to become slaves to our own government or to the ruling class or to any international group, determined to "act in the BEST interests of all" as determined by the leaders of such group.
The World Health Organization comes to mind, using the recent Pandemic as fodder to rule the world.

Pitt’s wisdom was spot on. The continued pressures on the colonies without recognition of citizens rights kept working to force the colonies away from their home country.
