Thank you Tara. I would hope that similar results to Mr. Travis's poll would occur today should it become necessary to defend ourselves. Remember the Alamo!

If Governor Abbott put out the call, I would load up and head for Texas. That may happen here shortly.

Uvalde can use some good guys on their police force to stop 18 y.o. Kids with AR15s from massacring elementary school students and teachers. 👍🏻

Rarely is the relief effort and ensuing massacre at Goliad mentioned. Even if the garrison at the Alamo had surrendered, they likely would have been butchered. Thier options were few.

Indeed, fight to the death or be tortured to death!

The final defense of the Alamo is one of greatest moments in history! The loss there allowed for victory at San Jacinto. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo tranfered all of the American Soithwest from México after the Mexican War.

Incredible bravery and dedication to liberty. Texans still have that fortitude and strong patriotism. We love visiting the Alamo. Right now Texans are fighting to defend the border. We pray they are successful. The men of the Alamo left a good example. The rallying cry shall always be, “Remember the Alamo!”

I wish Governor Abbott would deputies American citizens to help secure the border. I am sure about 10 thousand men would answer the call. Myself included.

The call for help would definitely be answered by citizens ready and able to step up. Perhaps Governor Abbott will do that eventually. When you’re pushed against the “wall” (pun intended) you take big steps to push back.

I cannot help but think of the frontier when the marshall would call upon the citizens to help maintain peace and order. We have a crisis, yet if I stepped into the fray, held up my hand and said "You're Not Coming In", I would be arrested. Now, multiple that times 20 or 30k. You now have shoulder to shoulder citizens who say follow our laws.

And this defining battle was the beginning of the Birth of the Great Republic of Texas. I am proud to state that my heritage belongs to those who fought in the 18 minutes at the Battle of San Jacinto.

🇺🇲 These days, it seems death is the absolute worst, most evil thing that can ever happen (see pandemic hysteria), and, it seems, many will give up anything and every thing to avoid it. It's not.

That's why we Remember, not just the Alamo, but all who paid dearly for our freedoms and way of life.

And we have a duty to preserve it for those who come after.

Sorry, got a lot longer than intended. Thanks, TR 🇺🇲

How many today are willing to die for their beliefs and liberty?? Brave men who gave all for what they believed in!

Freedom isn't Free. We as a nation must fight for it every day. Hopefully that message will get to those who are sitting and not doing for our nation each and every day. Time to Remember what this nation was created for and then fight for those values. Thank you Tara. The Alamo was a reminder of the Revolution.

A story for the ages. Been there as a tourist. We did as said finally prevailed in winning the final siege but even Washington knew when to back out of a non winnable situation without regret but he didn’t have women and children in the Fort. We lost many great men in that battle but as Tara says “that’s a story for another time”.

Remember the Alamo. Remember Goliad. As modern day Texians, we need to maintain our freedoms against tyranny! State's rights are just as important as personal rights in today's political environs.

It was an amazing place to visit. Events happened the year my home state, Arkansas (1836), became a state.

Although I am now pretty much a Texan, WPS! Still love my Arkansas!

The amazing thing about this story is are the men who knew that they are going to die but yet decided to stay and fight for what they believed. Worst happened to Fannin and his men after Alamo. They surrendered to the Mexican army but ordered tortured and shot. Sam Houston’s had the Mexican army on his heels but avoided them until he knew the time to jump on and beat them.

Story of Alamo and the birth of Texas is definitely facinating.

I always love the story of heroism at the Alamo. I have visited their several times and feel for those men. What a gallant stand they made. Thank you Tara.

I wonder what would have happened if the Alamo defenders had evacuated as orders to them stated. Would Texicans have won independence? Would they have had the vim to handle the Mexican army merely days later in 18 minutes? Would Santa Anna have been so complacent to put his army at a disadvantage or unpreparedness? The Alamo defense was vigorous and many more Mexican troops died than did the men who died defending the Alamo. Santa Anna’s barbarous treatment of those who survived the onslaught hardened the Texicans and they wanted revenge to the utmost! Texas liberty! And they achieved it with relative little life lost!
