Col Pajama Pilot Rasmussen was not only lucky to survive 500 bullet holes in his aircraft and still land somewhat safely, he is a great example of the Greatest Generation. And, I would say that he was a hero for his brave actions on that day and probably on other occasions as well.
My parents were of that generation also. Dad served in the Navy in both theaters and my parents never complained about anything that they were challenged with during their lives. They were successful and very involved and always ready for anything.
