It makes me sad to see how little our current world reveres and respects those men and the ideals they defended at all costs. They fought and died to give us a world with such freedom that we were able to take it for granted to such an extent that we don't even realize what we've given up.

The biographer of John McKinney said it well Tara. Heroes such as Mr. McKinney didn't seek notoriety or fame for the actions their MOH were awarded, they were defending their freedom and that of their fellow countrymen. Just doing their duty, that is the claim of most MOH awardees, it seems.

Thank you Tara for bringing another wonderful MOH Monday. I salute you John McKinney, you sir, are a true American Hero.
