James McCloughan certainly has my admiration and respect. I can't imagine the mental strength as well as the physical strength that man possessed during that lengthy extreme battle.
I was a Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam War and I was trained to do what Mr. McCloughan did and while I would like to think that I had what it took, I'm not sure that I could have and, I salute you Sir.
Thank you Tara for bringing us such amazing stories about super human feats of bravery.
Great story! Always, Heroes saving their brothers, “The love we had for each other had conquered the enemy. They moved out, and we were still standing.” Thank you, Tara Ross, for keeping their memories alive!
Another wonderful story of heroism and bravery. Thank you Tara. Another ride today to I-40 to stand a flagline. Patriotism is alive and well in America as you watch the people gather to stand on an overpass while a group of motorcycles pass underneath. Trucks are honking, flags are waving, and it make one feel very proud to be an American..
I don’t know that I ever wanted for my father to tell me that he loved me as long as he was alive. That is the one thing he reassured me about with every greeting or farewell. As a teen it was embarrassing almost. I am thankful that McCloughan lived to help all those he helped, and that he got to share his love with his father again!
Another bonus Medal of Honor story! James McCloughan’s account reminds us that love can change an otherwise awful outcome. It was a strong motivator for McCloughan. The characteristics of our MOH recipients are to be admired. They all seem to have the same qualities and it is made obvious when under duress. Thanks for the extra MOH this week, Tara. They’re always welcome.

Absolutely wonderful and heart warming story of what a true Hero is!
Jesus. Others. Yourself. JOY!

I feel especially good when I see a MoH recipient wearing the award…
