Iwo Jima was the impetus for the use of the atom bomb, something that to this day is still a debate. We have since learned the lessons of that attack, but the force of the atom still holds sway in our world view. It is a force for good AND a force for evil. We need to keep it beyond arm's length and consider its ramifications.
