Hi, everyone — I’m getting some questions via e-mail and also on other social media sites. So, for those who asked. Yes, the mention of a wound from the explosion at the American tank is at odds with the quote at the end of the story…. I understood the battery to be where his unit was, so the comment would have been made later, after he returned. I was assuming his wounds weren’t that serious and had been treated. Also, it’s possible that the wounds were minor and hidden by clothing. The wounds are mentioned in Turner’s Medal citation. The quote comes from a statement submitted by a soldier at a 14th Armored Division reunion held in Turner’s honor. Both sources can be found here: https://www.taraross.com/post/tdih-george-turner-moh Mostly I appreciate that so many of you read the story so carefully!!! ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️
