Franksgiving? Oh my! This is all new to me. Talk about a huge ego! Nice to have one day set aside as Thanksgiving. Politics and politicians! How would we manage without them? 😁 Happy Thanksgiving, Tara!

Funny, I do. My Franksgiving gift to you is to find a copy of Holiday Inn and watch it immediately...

My how the Fed's power has grown, and our gratefulness has all but disappeared.

Our country was created with states rights in mind. It's a shame our federal government no longer agrees.

The feds couldn't have done it by their selves, the states had to be complicit. The threat of the loss of federal money is probably the biggest cause, lazy a close second.

Oh my, "Franksgiving" what a term to use for a holiday meant to to be thankful. I admire the states, which ever ones that they were, that stuck to their principles of states rights.

Thank you Tara. Franksgiving, a term that shall not live in infamy.

Presidents seem to make the most of their supposed limited powers and FDR really stepped into it with his proclamation. The end result was a common sense solution by Congress that made the holiday date settled for good.

I wonder how many States would not support a similar move by a current President. Unfortunately, I think that we all know the answer. After some gnashing of teeth, the States would March in step with the administration. Too bad.

Many old movies spoof political stupidity and those are really funny. Thank you Tara for exposing the folly of Franksgiving😂😂😂

"Did you notice the part where states felt free to make their own decisions? What a change from today’s modern mindset."

Cha-ching. cha-ching. And people roll their eyes when the old adage, "Back in the good old days", is spoken.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! How is it possible I've never heard of this historic relic? Thank you Tara for bringing this nugget into the light! (And no, I didn't miss the "states rights" component. How far we have fallen.)

The States are empowered to make their own decisions. Why is that a question?

Most States have given up their rights to the Federal Government. Ala the Covid-19 shutdown in 2020.

The changes in States doing it differently began in 1913 with Taxes and changes to how Senators were elected in Amendment 17. The Federal government got more power and the slide downhill began. By 1939 you see a result. It is hard to soar with Eagles when the government is full of Turkeys...
