He never gave up. He never surrendered. He died fighting. That's a man's man.

I am curious as to his burial site, if you have details. My uncle is buried in France, KIA 10/4/18, and I intend to visit his grave.

It’s good there were witnesses to tell Frank Luke, Jr’s acts of heroism. Like so many before and after him he didn’t do it for the metal. He did it because it was his duty, for his fellow soldiers and for his country. So thankful for every courage man and woman who fought and fight for our nation. We owe them a debt we can never repay except to be good citizens and value our hard won freedoms.

Great story Tara, I never heard of Frank Luke Jr. before or what he did during WW1. We need more stores of the heroes of the war to end all wars.

Wow. The "balloon buster", Frank Luke Jr. was a hero for his brave actions. Singlehandedly taking out so many airplanes and hot air balloons before being severely wounded. He killed several of the enemy while landing his plane. His MOH was awarded posthumously. I find it amazing that he was able to be such a successful aviator just one short year following his enlistment.

Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday. God bless Mr. Luke and may God bless all who have served or currently serve this great nation.
