What a tremendous assault against far superior force. Knowing the Marines on Guadalcanal had no other hope, the task force made a sacrificial direct attack. The MOH was aptly earned that day. May God bless them all and may they rest in peace.

What bravery and selfless sacrifice. This was noble action and all medals deservedly won. The marines and the country owe a debt of gratitude to these most courageous daring sailors. Guadalcanal was pure hell - my father was a CB and part of the airstrip construction team there - strafed and bombed often. He never discussed it but it had a lifelong impact.

Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday, a multiple. What a battle was Guadalcanal. So many men killed on both sides.

As a former Navy Corpsman, and as the son of a WW2 Chief Motor Machinest, I am so proud of our Navy.

I lived in Florence, CO as a child and currently live 9 miles away from Florence, in Cañon City. Bruce McCandless' hometown was Florence. We have a VA long term care facility in Florence, named after Bruce McCandless.

Amazing courage displayed by these sailors. Courageous leadership and tactics to save those Naval vessels was not taught in Navy boot camp. They knew their ships and pushed the envelope to keep them afloat!

Courage under all odds!

Another wonderful reminder of the struggle these heros faced in WW11. My father was in the Pacific Theater. These naval battles had to have been terrorizing. Thank you Tara for another wonderful gem 💎 💖.....
